At 11pm EST, Warner Brothers Records Nashville, got another incredible artist on their roster, and that artist was none other than Nashville Star winner Angela Hacker. For eight weeks, Angela has sung her heart out, proving to America that as long as you love what you are doing, you can and will find success. Now as proof, Angela walked away tonight with not only a record contract, but a confirmed appearance on the Grand Old Opry stage, and the keys to a new Chevrolet Silverado. The twenty nine year old single mother was truly a diamond in the rough, as described by Nashville Star judge Anastasia Brown. Every week after her performances, which included “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and “Strawberry Wine," the judges had nothing but good words and praise for her, and both judges Blake Shelton and Randy Owen claimed her as their choice to win, early on in the season. Auditioning for the show near her hometown of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Angela instantly stood out as a powerful contender. It would only be later that she would find out that her younger brother, Zac Hacker, had also auditioned and qualified for Nashville Star, having done his audition in a different state at a different time. Zac, coincidently, would turn out to become Angela’s greatest competition, and he came in second place in this season’s show. One of the artists who had shown the most growth over the course of the season, Zac started out strong, and after he blew the house away with his original song “If It Wasn’t for the Whiskey”, he was nothing but amazing since. It was also Zac that helped bring his sister back into singing by getting her to join him at gigs in their local bars. They enjoyed performing together, and even graced the audience with a duet of “Hard to Handle” before the night was over. He was also the first to be able to congratulate her, and the love between the siblings was shining bright. Earlier in the evening, the third runner up, David St. Romain, gave his farewell to the audience. For him, he wished the Hacker siblings luck, and said that he did not feel he walked away from the experience empty handed, but instead felt honored and blessed that he had made it as far as he had. But the gig’s not over yet, at least not for the Hackers, St. Romain, and fourth runner up Joshua Stevens (who was voted off last week). The four of them will make up the performers for this summer’s Nashville Star Summer Tour. So if you missed the season, and want to see them in person, you still have a chance. You don’t even have to fly to Nashville for it, because they will be coming to you. Congratulations, Angela. You deserve it!
