ACM Awards Recap
Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney
|
|
Kenny Chesney opened the 42 Annual Academy Award Show last night in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand with his hit "Have Another Beer In Mexico." Reba McEntire was as charming as always, with just the right amount of comedy. Martina McBride was stunning in a shimmering silver floor length evening gown and had the crowd applauding with delight before she could reach the first chorus of her powerful single "Anyway". Rodney Atkins staying true to his own style, by wearing his trademark baseball cap throughout the evening, but donned a suit coat over his farm T-shirt when he accepted his award for New Male Vocalist of the Year. Congrats Rodney...much deserved! George Strait "The Pride of Texas," performed his current single, "Wrapped," and later took home the award for Single of the Year "Give It Away." Album of the Year winner, Carrie Underwood performed her current single "Wasted," and also went home with our award for Best Dressed Female Artist. Carrie performed in a two piece black and white number with a satin trimmed white backless shirt and black pants. One of the most poignant moments of the night came when Big Machine Recording Artist, young Taylor Swift performed her hit "Tim McGraw," for the man himself. That being their first official meeting Taylor was notably moved, as were the McGraws. Another emotional performance came when Rascal Flatts sang "He Ain't The Leavin' Kind" in honor of those lost in the Virginia Tech massacre. Then came Brad Paisley. Brad, who later took home the award for Male Vocalist of the Year, gave one of the most entertaining performances of the evening with his hit single "Ticks." Toby Keith performed "High Maintenance Woman," borrowing Trace Adkins "Bodonkadonk" dancers from last years CMA Award show. Warner Bros. Recording Artists Big and Rich performed, "Lost In This Moment," with R&B Great, John Legend. Little Big Town proved they aren't going anywhere any time soon, after they received the award for Top New Vocal Group, and performed "A Little More You," in perfect Boondock harmony. Then two of the strongest female vocalists of the decade came together for an amazing duet. Show host, Reba McEntire and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson sang "Because of You." Crowd pleasers as always, legendary duo Brooks & Dunn sang "Hillbilly Deluxe." Faith Hill broke out a brand new song, "Lost." Perhaps two of the most shining personalities on stage and off, Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles performed their current single "Everyday America" on a two way conveyor belt. Definitely one of the best choreographed performances of the night. Tim McGraw holds the honors for most moving moment when he sang a tribute to the families of fallen soldiers. As Carrie Underwood stated later while accepting her award for Top Female Vocalist, "he didn't leave a dry eye in the house." Finally Vince Gill got the crowd going with an up tempo tune that played out with one of his incredible guitar solos. So, we finish where we began.... Entertainer of the Year goes to KENNY CHESNEY ! |
Urban Heads Back To the US

Just about the time many country music fans will be heading to
Nashville for the Country Music Event of the Year...The Annual CMA Fan Festival,
Keith Urban will be preparing for the next leg of his tour which will
finally kick off here in the U.S. Scheduled for a concert in Phoenix on June 8th, Las Vegas
on June 9th, and a show in San Diego on the 10th, it doesn't appear Urban has any plans to be in town for Fan Fair this year. After taking his Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Tour all over Europe and Australia, he played his final concert in Australia on May 22nd. Now, with this brief time off, the hard working and most certainly one of the busiest touring artists in the biz, will hopefully give those vocals a much needed rest.
Welcome Back To The States Keith!
