LoriAnn, is a rare contemporary country singer/songwriter/musician, who is truly a triple threat! She draws you into her own little world the minute she hits her first note, with a contagious smile that captivates every person in the audience. She has a unique aura that engages audiences from the ages of 2 to 102! After you’ve seen her perform live, not only will you be blown away by her phenomenal voice and her original songs, but you will also feel as if you’ve known her your entire life!
In an almost Jimmy Buffet-like fashion, she has developed a loyal fan base that will drive anywhere from Connecticut to Texas, to catch a show of LoriAnn’s in St.Augustine, Florida! Northern Florida has turned into LoriAnn’s home away from home, although she is starting to travel a lot more as of recently! In January of this year, she was selected as a Regional Finalist for the Season 4 “Nashville Star” competition. This year there were only 43 people out of 50,000 that made it into the finals, and LoriAnn was one of them! She is a self-proclaimed mutt (half-southern and half-northern). “My mother is from Tifton, GA and my father is from Rye, NY. I was raised like a southern child in the heart of NY.” Now why in the world would she ever be a little confused? All I can say is that from all of that confusion, she has been able to clearly create a perfect blend of pop and country music that is uniquely universal.
Ballet and modern dance introduced her to the stage at the tender age of four. She began taking piano lessons at the age of seven, and performed in community theater and choir in elementary and high school. She continued singing in choir throughout college, and toured with some Top 40 country bands, named “Tennessee Connection” and “Crossroads” on the weekends. In her spare time, she began to learn guitar and was singing professional demos for other songwriters. As a solo artist, she began making appearances at the Eastern Shore Opry in Maryland, where she had the honor of sharing the stage with Claire Lynch and the legendary Reno Brothers.
LoriAnn is also no stranger to the Nashville music scene. She was the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter for a band called Sugar Shack. The band quickly propelled to headline status at clubs in Nashville and around the Southeast. The lead guitarist and LoriAnn eventually branched off to form a Fleetwood-Mac-inspired country duo named Beasley ‘n Feeley. They recorded an all original album in DaCapo Music studio on Music Row. The album "So Far So Good" received Nashville recognition but they didn’t get as much exposure as they had hoped. She has also been a featured writer at the world-famous Bluebird Café, the Boardwalk Café, the Broken Spoke Saloon, the Sutler, as well as many other Nashville venues.
“Songwriting is the one thing that has always been very close to my heart, and you could almost say it has been my best friend. There’s nothing like playing one of your songs, and watching the faces of the people when they are truly touched. That is why I gave up the corporate world, to make a living playing music. I went to Fairfield University in Connecticut and majored in Marketing and minored in Management. When I graduated I was offered a high-paying position in Manhattan at a large firm, and I turned it down to make $40 a night singing in a country band. I knew at that point I had chosen my path, and there was no turning back. Thankfully, I make more than $40 a night now, but I’ll tell you it sure didn’t happen overnight!!
LoriAnn has chosen her path, and it seems to be working for her! LoriAnn’s new CD/DVD “This Town” was independently released this past year, and has been doing extremely well on many internet radio stations such as www.urradio.com! Every track is an extremely personal or an autobiographical insight into her life. Every song on the new album was written solely by LoriAnn. Expect a new album from LoriAnn sometime this summer!!
