Kid Rock and Friends

Kicked Off the CMT Awards Wednesday Night

Thursday morning following the CMT Music 2010 Awards,

music fans became music critics.  Blog sites including

CMT's own blog spot were flooded with negative reviews of the nights' events.

We at New Country Star, however, did enjoy several performances

including Lady Antebellum's song "Stars Tonight" and

LeAnn Rimes rendition of the John Anderson classic "Swingin" to which

John himself almost went unnoticed playing guitar behind LeAnn's dance and song.

Congratulations to all the Buckle winners and for those of you who missed the

show, here's how it all got started with "Kid" and friends!

and she was not the only disappointed viewer!

"CMT You owe everyone an apology for the worst, most unprofessional production ever.

Kid Rock was vulgar and and not suited for family viewing. The production of the show

was less than professional. The sound was off and it appeared that the artists could not hear.

I Noticed many of the artists were not smiling or cheering while they were in their seats.

In fact they seemed uncomfortable. How about in the future try to make your award show

about country music instead of pop culture and instead of trying to use the country stars to

drag in an audience to your pop culture show. This was not the country show we tune in for.

We love our country music and the country stars. Not vulgarity and pop culture. Leave that

to MTV where the ratings are poor. We watch Country because it is the only thing left

that our entire family can watch. This show was a disaster and if this is the way you

will handle it in the future we will watch country somewhere else.

Lady Antebellum " Yeah Yeah ! "

From the first mention of the unusual name Lady Antebellum,

Sara Jo says she still remembers being on a phone call with one of her favorite

Nashville publicists/development guys.  He simply said "have you heard the name

Lady Antebellum?  If you haven't you will very soon and for a long time to come."

"He couldn't have been more right," says Sara Jo of her conversation on that work day

about two years back. Since then, we've all heard the name and maybe now that

you know the name, you probably are aware that they can and do know

how to rock a stage.  But what about that band name, you might want to

know where the name originated.  Well, it wasn't just an idiom or some cuckoo

term invented in the back room of a Nashville club on Broadway.

Here is a little about the meaning of "Lady Antebellum".

Miley Spreads Her Wings

Trying to break free from her youthful "Hannah Montana" image

the teen pop star has clearly crossed some lines with the release

of her new video, "Can't Be Tamed".  Miley told Ryan Seacrest that the video

was a statement about her creative side, but on the heels of

her smash hit "Party in the USA" it first appeared to us as a train wreck.

There was a definite Britney Spears influence and vibe, but who

in their right mind would follow in Brit's footsteps.

Miley we expected so much more from you!  Daddy B-Ray

never seems to be around when the dirty goes on film, but Miley

says Mom Tish was hangin' on set for the entire shoot.  So, lets cut

Miles some slack, afterall she is just a kid tryin to grow up in a world most of us

couldn't imagine and if Tish is cool with it, who are we to judge?

13 Years Old Wow, and Now?

American Idol Runner Up

Crystal Bowersox, is a Season 9 American Idol Contestant, who accidentally

caught our eye one weekend.  Apologies to Simon and Fox, admittedly

we aren't part of the masses who follow the show.  However, scouring the web

for new talent as we often do, we stumbled upon a 13 year old prodigy that

left us all silent throughout her entire original song.  Of course, it didn't take

long to find out more about this kid, who isn't a kid anymore and who all of you

were probably busy watching all season on the popular reality talent show.

So, maybe you found her before we did.  But what was most remarkable,

was the transformation from what we thought would be described in her tween

performance as a new "Jewel" but shockingly had grown into a vocal powerhouse,

as resonant as Melissa Etheridge.  Maybe this is why record labels used to

let kids grow up first... so they could see where their voices would land.
